Discovering Hågelby Farm

Located in the heart of Botkyrka, just a 30-minute drive from central Stockholm, Hågelby Farm is an idyllic destination that offers a refreshing change of pace. The estate was developed between 1911 and 1922 by Lars Magnus Ericsson, founder of Ericsson, as a model farm and personal retreat. Ericsson even built a movable tower to choose the site for the main house—between two Viking burial mounds—symbolizing his blend of innovation and tradition.

📡 From Telephones to Turnips: LM Ericsson’s Rural Vision
After revolutionizing global telecommunications, Lars Magnus Ericsson and his wife Hilda acquired Hågelby Gård in 1906. Over the next decade, they turned it into a model estate, complete with gardens, farmland, and architectural ambition. The main house’s placement was carefully chosen to harmonize with the natural and historical landscape.
