Weather in Stockholm and Sweden

About the weather in Stockholm

The climate in Stockholm is caracterized by its varied seasons, and it seems that the swedes apreciate the difference between them. Every season has its charm, and the sometimes extreme difference between summer and winter makes Sweden a true "all-round" country, with sun and beach in summer time and skiing in winter.

Summer comes officialy on Midsummer´s Eve, around the 20th of June. Nevertheless, in reality already i May you can appreciate warm climate. July and August are normally very warm months, giving the opportunity to stay outside all day and night, taking a bath. During this time the sun hardly goes down.

In September fall begins, according to many swedes the most beautiful season, when all the leaves turn red.

Winter season starts in December and last until March/April. There can be snowfall as well as rain, it depends on the temperature. When the temperature stays low for several weeks, the waters of Stockholm will freeze, and you can take a walk on the ice (people actually make shortcuts this way). When the sky is clear, temperature goes down, and you can enjoy a walk in the sun.

Springtime is a busy period as well for the inhabitants as well as for plants and animals. Everything wakes up in a hurry, from park cafés to flowers.
