About the museum
This great museum of inventions, experiments and science exhibitions is the largest of its kind in Sweden, and is situated south of Gärdet at Östermalm, Stockholm. The museum was founded in 1923.
The museum’s collections consist of 55,000 objects with an exhibition area of 10,000 m2. In addition, the archives of the National Museum of Science stores 200,000 drawings, 1,000,000 pictures and over 56,000 books.
The exhibitions give you all the details on steam enginges, mining (including a mine), airplanes, cars, locomotives, as well as telephones (the first telephones manufactured by Lars Magnus Ericsson, computers and space science. If you like old computers you will certainly be interested in that part of the museum.
