Description of Östasiatiska museet

The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities is situated on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm and exhibits some of Europe´s more interesting collections of artifacts from China, Japan, India and South East Asia. The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm gives you the possibility to meet the cultures of Far East countries like Japan, China, Korea, India and Southeast Asia.

The collection of artifacts rounds 100,000 items and includes archeological objects as well as art.

The museum dates back to 1926 when the Swedish state established the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities based on the private collections of Johan Gunnar Andersson, also known as "Kina-Gunnar".

The museum has since the beginning been located in an renovated Navy supply store from the 18th century situated in Skeppsholmen.
