Drottningholm Palace was built in 1662, and serves as the residence of the Swedish royal family since 1981.

Drottningholm is also one of several names of the island where the palace is situtaded.

In English Drottningholm means Queen´s Islet and is situated next to Stockholm by the Lake Mälaren.

Drottningholm Castle is located on Queens Island in
the Mälarsea, 12 kilometres from Stockholm. Of Franco-
Dutch design, construction of this regal residence began
in 1662 and the castle is now the residence of the
Swedish royal family.

  1. Already been to the castle twice but definitely have to visit it again to take more photos. It is a must see for any visitor even though it is not in Stockholm town (about 30min by bus).
