Prins Eugens Art Gallery (Waldemarsudde)

Description of Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde

The Waldemarsudde Estate in Djurården, Stockholm. This premise was the home of Prince Eugen, and converted into a scandinavian art museum after his death in 1947. Prince Eugen´s Waldemarsudde Art Museum, Stockholm, was the home of the Swedish Prince Eugen of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke (1865-1947) from 1899 until 1947.

The gallery has a unique collection of Scandinavian painting and sculpture from the turn of the last century. The prince was an educated painter and soon after his death the premises were converted to a museum of his own and other paintings.

The Waldemarsudde Art Museum offers large collections of Scandinavian Art from the period of 1880-1940, covering both Prince Eugen´s work as well as other swedish artist from that period.

The museum is situated at Södra Djurgården in a beautiful waterfront environment close to central Stockholm. The location and the scenic surroundings provide the visitor stunning views of the inlet to Stockholm.
